Big Island Surf Forecast Today

Hilo side: Surf heights to be expected in the shoulder to head high range. Small short period wind waves from the east falling slightly during the day. Light and variable east-southeast winds with smooth seas all day.

Kona side: Surf heights to be expected in the knee to waist high range. Easing SSW swell – occasional plus sets for select summer magnets. NOTE – Expect smaller surf for spots with less exposure to the south.

South: Surf heights to be expected in the head high to 1ft. overhead. Small short period wind waves from the east holding during the day. Breezy east winds, whitecapping conditions with moderate choppy seas all day.

Big Island Surf Forecast Sunday

Hilo side: Surf heights to be expected in the knee to shoulder high range. Small short period wind waves from the east-southeast holding during the day. Light and variable northeast winds with smooth seas all day.

ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD

Kona side: Surf heights to be expected in the knee to thigh high range. Minimal SSW swell leftovers.

South: Surf heights to be expected in shoulder to head high. Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast holding during the day. Breezy east winds, whitecapping conditions with moderate choppy seas all day.

Keep in mind surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
