The National Weather Service released Tropical Storm Madeline information message for Sunday, Aug. 28, at 12:30 p.m.
As of 11 a.m. today, the NWS reports Tropical Storm Madeline is located about 885 miles east of Hilo moving in a northwest direction at 9 MPH. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 MPH with higher gusts.
Tropical Storm Madeline is expected to strengthen through Monday before beginning to weaken and turn toward the west Monday night or Tuesday.
