The Hawaii Forest Institute has rescheduled its traditional Hawaiian Hale Building Workshop from July 9 to Saturday, July 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The project is construction of the Hale Mala at Pana‘ewa Zoo Discovery Forest as part of the ongoing Traditional Hale Building Workshop Series.

The workshop will be conducted by Traditional Hawaiian Hale Builder Uncle Walter Wong.

Participants should meet at the Pana‘ewa Zoo Rainforest & Gardens’ front entrance or at Discovery Forest.

Wear closed-toed shoes and bring pocket knife, gloves, sunscreen, refillable water bottle and rain gear.

The Pana‘ewa Zoo Rainforest & Gardens is located at 800 Stainback Highway in Hilo.
