The Paradise Roller Girls will participate in the next Big Island roller derby bout in Hilo on June 4.

On April 30, PRG and the Waimea Wranglers Rough Roller Girls faced off at the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium, where the Waimea team left the rink with a 2-0 victory over the Pacific and Paradise derby teams.

The PRG loss was the second in the season. PRG won 182-105 against the Hulagans. Pacific lost both games.

Four teams will fight for the win at the next roller derby event.

“The first game starts at 11 a.m., and the last game probably won’t end until 8:30 p.m.,” said Hannah “Hawkalolo Hottie” Hawkins, Paradise Roller Girls skater. “That’s so much roller derby. I am just thinking of how much I am going to get slammed into on the track.”

Tickets to the event are $5 for adults and free for children under the age of 5. They can be purchased at Jungle Love, CD Wizzard, Mt. View Video, Kadota Liquor, at the door, or from any PRG member.
