Four University of Hawai’i at Hilo softball players earned all-conference recognition from coaches throughout the PacWest Conference this season, fronted by newcomer Cristina Menjivar’s All-PacWest First Team selection.

Menjivar, a junior utility player from San Francisco, Calif., led UH-Hilo with eight home runs and 37 runs batted in. She finished second in batting average, hitting .391, and started every one of the Vulcans’ 49 games played this season.

Sophomore Bailey Gaspar was named to the All-PacWest Second Team. She led UH-Hilo with a .415 batting average, blasting six home runs and tallying 36 RBI. The conference honor capped a busy week for the infielder, who was named the school’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Infielders Brittany Huff and Chenoa Au were named to the All-PacWest Third Team. Huff, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., batted .321 on the season and had a .973 fielding percentage. Au, a sophomore from Wahiawa, Oahu, stole seven bases and hit .297 on the season.

UH-Hilo wrapped up the 2016 season with a 32-17 overall record and 21-9 PacWest Conference mark.
