Walter Dods, a Honolulu business leader who serves as the chairman of Matson, Inc., has joined the Hu Honua Bioenergy, LLC advisory board.

In previous roles, Dods has been the chairman of Hawaiian Telcom and Alexander & Baldwin. He was also the past president of the American Bankers Association.

“We’re pleased Mr. Dods has joined our advisory board,” said Jennifer M. Johnson, the principal investor in Hu Honua Bioenergy, LLC and Co-President of Franklin Resources, Inc. “We look forward to his insights and expertise.

“We believe this is a transformative project for Hawai’i that will not only provide clean, renewable energy, but also jump-start the Big Island’s fledgling forestry industry and generate hundreds of new jobs.”

Hu Honua is located in Pepeekeo and upon completion, is anticipated to product up to 30-megawatts of renewable baseload power.
