Police Investigate Early Morning Puna Robbery

badgeA robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning is being investigated by the Hawai’i Police Department.

According to authorities, a 28-year-old Puna man reported that he was robbed at about 3:50 a.m. as he was hitchhiking along Highway 130 in the Kaloli Drive area.

The victim told police he was able to flee from the car on foot when it pulled over near Maku’u Drive.

Police described the vehicle involved in the incident as a light-colored four-door sedan.

Multiple occupants were reportedly in the vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding the case or who witnessed the incident should call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Officer Duane Rapoza directly at 965-2716.
