Day at Hulihe’e: An Annual Fundraiser

On Saturday, March 26, Hulihe’e Palace will be open for its annual Day at Hulihe’e spring fundraiser.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., a traditional Hawaiian blessing will kick of the event, hosted by the Daughters of Hawai’i and the Calabash Cousins, caretakers of the palace.

There will be tented arts and craft booths and a bake sale featuring Aunty Nona’s peach cake, along with the “Classy Tutu’s Attic.”

Kuakini Hawaiian Civic Club members will be on site with food offerings, and a local hula halau will perform on the palace lawn fronting Kailua Bay.

Poi pounding, pa’i ‘ai; and fish net making, ‘upena will be taught through cultural demonstrations.

In addition, the memory of Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole will be remembered. The Hawai’i Citizen Prince was born in March.

Palace admission will be complimentary all day, although donations will be accepted.
