Police Seek Witnesses in Orchidland Assault

badge 123A robbery in Puna on Tuesday is being investigated by police, who are seeking witnesses to the incident.

According to the Hawai’i Police Department, a 57-year-old man reported that he was walking on Orchidland Drive in the Orchidland Estates subdivision when two men exited a dark Honda four-door sedan, assaulted him, and stole his personal belongings.

The male victim was transported to Hilo Medical Center via private vehicle. At HMC, he was treated for his injuries and released.

Police say the suspects have been described as possibly Caucasian and about 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-8.

Anyone with information about the incident, who witnessed it, or know the identity of the individuals who reportedly assaulted the man should call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Officer Donovan Kohara directly by calling 961-2272 or e-mailing [email protected].

Those who prefer to maintain anonymous should call the Big Island Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300.
