As the University of Hawai’i proposes increases in its tuition schedule for Fall 2017 through Spring 2020, the public will be invited to attend public meetings across the state beginning in late March.

On the Big Island, three meetings will be held in April. The meetings will provide the public with the “rationale for the tuition proposal and what the increases will be used for,” according to UH.

In addition, members of the public, students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed schedule.

Testimony can be submitted orally at a scheduled meeting or can be submitted via e-mail at [email protected].

The meetings on the Big Island will be held on the following schedule:

  • April 12 at 10 a.m., Hawai’i Community College – Pālamanui, Room A-102
  • April 28 at 12 p.m., Hawai’i Community College – Manono, Kaneikeao Conference Room, Building 379, Room 1
  • April 28 at 4 p.m., University of Hawai’i at Hilo, Ho’oulu Terrace, University Classroom Building 127

UH says tuition increases are intended to address deferred maintenance at UH Manoa and UH community colleges and establish a reserve fund for the UH West Oahu and UH-Hilo campuses.
