Beginning Monday, portions of Manono Street and Leilani Street will be under a 24-hour closure.

The roadway closure will run along Manono Street between Kekuanaoa Street and East Lanikaula Street, as well on Leilani Street from Mililani Street to Hinano Street. It is expected to last through Thursday, March 24 as grading and pavement work is completed in the area.

Local residents will be the only individuals allowed access during the nearly four-week work period.

The County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works and its contractor, Loeffler Construction, have released the following time frames for the phases of the work, weather and construction conditions pending:

  • Feb. 29 to March 9: Manono Street from Lanikaula Street to Leilani Street.
  • March 10 to March 18: Manono Street from Leilani Street to Kekuanaoa Street, with the possibility of one lane open for two-way traffic during the phase.
  • March 21 to March 22: Leilani Street from Manono Street to Hinano Street.
  • March 23 to March 24: Leilani Street from Mililani Street to Manono Street.

DPW says the closure is necessary to complete to work timely and for the safety of drivers.

Off-duty officers will assist in facilitating traffic and Mililani Street and Hinano Street will be available for use as alternate routes.
