PIXABAY drops of waterAn overnight water shut-off is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26 at 11 p.m. until Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3 a.m.

The Department of Water Supply says the temporary turn-off will affect customers connected to the Laupahoehoe water system from Kapehu Camp to Ka’awali’i Gulch, with the inclusion of all services in Papa’aloa, Laupahoehoe, and Waipunalei in South Hilo.

DWS says the shut-off is necessary to conduct waterline work for the Laupahoehoe 0.5 MG Reservoir Construction Project.

Once water service resumes, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned. Customers may experience turbid or discolored water, as well as air trapped in plumbing. These issues should be resolved as water is used.
