Applications for the HFS Federal Credit Union 2016 Scholarship program are currently being accepted.

A total of eight scholarships totaling $15,500 will be distributed to qualified high school seniors on the Big Island.

Three $1,000 scholarships are available for two-year degrees, and five $2,500 scholarships will be available to students planning on attending a four-year institution.

Academic performance, achievements, community service, and financial need will be the basis of scholarship recipients.

Students who have a grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher who will pursue a degree at an accredited four-year college or university on a full-time basis during the 2016-2017 academic year should apply for one of the $2,500 scholarships.

Those who have a cumulative grade-point-average of 2.0 or higher who plan on attending a two-year vocational-technical school or college in the 2016-2017 academic year should apply for one of the $1,000 scholarships.

Applications are due either by dropping it off at a HFS FCU location or with a post-mark date of March 31.
