Kea’au High School graduate and University of Hawai’i football player Damien Packer was named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team for the 2015 football season.

Packer, a defensive back, has received the honor for the third time in his career. He earned a 3.00 grade point average on the path to a Family Resources major.

In order to qualify for the Academic All-MW Team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher, complete at least one academic term at their institution, and be either a starter or significant contributor to their respective teams.

Nineteen other Rainbow Warrior football players joined Packer on the Academic All-MW team, released Thursday by the conference.
