Huggo’s oceanfront restaurant in Kailua-Kona widened its availability with hBAR, a new oceanfront bar connected to the two-generation restaurant.

hBAR runs alongside the restaurant’s sea-to-plate dinner menu, offering handcrafted cocktails and a small plate menu.

Huggo’s President Eric von Platen Luder says the idea behind the bar was to create a place for guests to enjoy a group of friends or relax in a romantic setting, enjoying an infamous Kona sunset.

“The addition of hBAR sets a new standard and reflects the changing wishes of our customers,” von Platen Luder said. “Our focus on new design elements include custom lounge seating with booths and couches.”

Restaurant personnel say the new bar fulfills a “Kona lounge cool” vibe.

Classic Mai Tai’s highlighted by a secret almond syrup are on the menu, alongside syrups and liquors infused with herbs, fruits, vegetables, meat,s and nuts.
