AIA Names 2016 Board of Directors

The 2016 Board of Directors for the American Institute of Architects, Honolulu Chapter has been named and includes the continuation of the Big Island’s Shaun Roth, AIA of Roth Kimura, LLP, as the Hawai’i Island section director.

An estimated 800 architects, associate members, and allied deign professionals on the Big Island, Oahu, and Kauai are served by the board.

Benjamin Lee, FAIA of Clifford Planning & Architecture, will lead as president, while Christopher Hong, AIA Group 70 International, is the 2016 vice president/president-elect.

Mayumi Dao, AIA of John Hara Associates Inc., will continue in the role of secretary, and Kurt Mitchell, AIA of RIM Architects, is the board’s elected treasurer.

Lee, Hong, Dao, and Mitchell will serve as the four-member Executive Committee.

The 2016 at-large directors are Emile Alano, AIA of Architects Hawai’i Ltd.; Jason DeMarco, AIA of Ferraro Choi and Associates Ltd.; Purnima McCutcheon, AIA of Group 70 International; Rick Myers, AIA of WATG; Kris Powers, AIA of Mason Architects Inc.; Ming-Yi Wong, AIA of Mason Architects Inc.; Lorena Yamamoto, AIA of Roy K. Yamamoto, AIA; and Gary Yee, AIA of SSFM International, Inc.

Jason Takeuchi, Associate AIA of Ferraro Choi and Associates Ltd., was elected as associate, representing AIA Honolulu’s emerging architects and design professionals.
