The identity of a woman who died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday night in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park has been released.

National Park Service officials say the victim of the fatal crash was 23-year-old Destanie Renon of Waikoloa.

Renon was reportedly traveling south on Highway 11 Thursday night at around 9:38 p.m. when the vehicle she was driving crashed into a cluster of large ohia trees. She was ejected from the vehicle, according to NPS.

Park rangers, along with Hawai’i County Fire Department personnel, determined at the scene that Renon did not survive the incident. Renon’s body was transported to Hilo Medical Center.
