Free Household Hazardous Waste Events in Hilo, Kona

The County of Hawai’i Department of Environmental Management will host two free household hazardous waste collection events in December.

Household generated and self-hauled waste will be collected at the Hilo Recycling and Transfer Station on Saturday, Dec. 5 and at the Kealakehe Recycling and Transfer Station on Saturday, Dec. 12. Both events will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Hazardous household waste includes automotive fluids, used batteries, fluorescent lights, and pesticides. Latex paint will also be accepted at both facilities for reuse.

The next scheduled household hazardous waste events will be on March 5 in Waimea and March 6 in Pahoa.
