Little fire ant treatment will cause an early closure of the Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation officials say the closure will begin at 2 p.m. as the facility is treated.

On Friday, Nov. 13 normal operating hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will resume.

Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens is located off Stainback Highway, five miles south of Hilo and is the only natural tropical rainforest zoo in the United States.
