A transmission pole on Kuakini Highway in the Honalo area has been replaced by Hawai’i Electric Light crews.

Damage was caused to the pole during a vehicle accident early Thursday morning.

The roadway was partially closed during the pole replacement, but has since been reopened.

A vehicle accident has caused the closure of the northbound lane of Highway 11 in Honalo, between Kaalele Street and the Kainaliu Junction.

According to authorities, the closure is due to a downed utility pole. A Hawai’i Electric Light spokesperson says the utility pole belongs to the company, and that crews are working to replace the transmission pole that was damaged.

North-bound traffic is being routed onto Highway 180. Motorists should expect delays and avoid the area if possible.

The south-bound lane along Highway 11 continues to flow.

Hawai’i Electric Light estimates that work will be completed between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday.
