UPDATE: Kalanianaole Avenue Reopens Following Flooding

Kalanianaole Avenue between Kioea Street and Koloa Street has reopened.

The Hawai’i Police Department reports that Kalanianaole Avenue, between Kioea Street and Koloa Street, is currently closed as a result of high tides and flooding. Motorists in the area are being detoured through Nene Street.

In addition, the National Weather Service continues to issue a  High Surf Warning through 6 p.m. Wednesday for North and West facing shores of the Big Island. Surf is expected to reach heights of 20 to 30 feet along north facing shores, and heights of 15 to 20 feet along west facing shores.

Individuals in the water should be cautious and heed all advice given by Ocean Safety officials.
