Dr. James Lambeth was recently named the 2015 Physician of the Year for the Big Island by the Hawai’i County Medical Society.

As a Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Lambeth has been an instrumental part of the development of radiation oncology centers across the Big Island. The centers in East and West Hawai’i are important components to the growth of Hawai’i Radiologic Associated, Ltd. and an innovative part in designing the radiology department at the Hilo Medical Center.

For nearly 40 years, Dr. Lambeth has served on the Big Island, including 22 years spent as a volunteer flight surgeon with the Hawai’i National Guard. He has also taught at the University of Saigon medical school in Vietnam during the war. In 1976, Dr. Lambeth moved to Hilo to practice medicine with one of his colleagues from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Lambeth will be honored at the 13th annual “Wine, Cheese, Chocolate and More!” event held by the Hilo Medical Center Foundation on Nov. 1.
