A robbery that occurred Monday in Kalapana is being investigated by the Hawai’i Police Department.

Police say a 64-year-old man was on his porch just before 12 p.m. when a man with his face obscured walked up his driveway, located on the 12-4300 block of Pahoa-Kalapana Road.

When the victim confronted the suspect, he was punched in the face and dragged into the house. At that point, the suspect attempted to tie the man up, ransacked the house, and fled with items belonging to the victim.

Police say the suspect was described as possibly “local,” 5-foot-6, and 182-190 pounds with a stocky build. He was reportedly wearing a green safari hat, glasses, and a blue and white checkered long-sleeved shirt with baggy denim jeans and black boots.
