The following temporary weekend road closures have been announced by the State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation.
Highway 19 in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch, between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, will be under a 24-hour schedule of alternating single lane closures in both directions. The partial closure will last through Monday, Oct. 12 for improvements.
Continuous activity on Umauma Bridge in Hakalau will cause alternating lane closures near mile marker 16 on Highway 19 to remain on a seven-day-a-week, 24-hour schedule as bridge rehabilitation work is underway. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 miles per hour.
All lane closures are weather permitting and have the possibility of changing without notice.
