Residents of the Hilo and Keaukaha areas may notice an increase in air traffic over their areas nightly between Oct. 12 and Oct. 26 as a result of airfield maintenance work at Hilo International Airport.

Runway 8-26 will close nightly for airfield maintenance and runway painting between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly.

Flight patterns will be modified to use Runway 3-21.

The work is weather pending and could be extended if weather conditions aren’t favorable.
