Hilo’s Gilbert Carvalho Park and adjacent Pi’ihonua Gymnasium will close for repairs beginning Monday, Sept. 28.

The Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation says the repairs will include the replacement of gym, pavilion, and restroom roofs, in addition to repainting projects, light pole installation on the ball field, and electrical work at the recreation site.

Work is expected to be completed by December, but until then, the entire park will be closed to the public, including the ball field, parking lots, playground, pavilion, and gym.
