Ainaola Park Robbery Suspects Arrested, Charged

Two men have been arrested and charged following a robbery at Ainaola Park early Thursday morning.

The Hawai’i Police Department reports that officers responded to a 1:20 a.m. call from a 20-year-old man who was reportedly confronted by two men who brandished what appeared to be a handgun.

According to police, the men took the victim’s wallet and glasses before leaving in separate vehicles.

At 3:30 a.m. Thursday, HPD located the suspects on Kahaopea Street.

Joshua R.K. Domen and Bradley Burcena, both 22-years-old, were arrested and taken to the Hilo police cellblock as Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued to investigate.

The pair was charged on Friday at 12 p.m. Domen was charged with first-degree robbery and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $5,500, Burcena, meanwhile, was charged with first-degree robbery. His bail was set at $5,000.

Domen and Burcena both remain at the cellblock as they await their initial court appearance set for Monday.
