Woman Arrested on Suspicion of Arson

An arson investigation is underway by the Hawai’i Police Department following a fire Wednesday morning in Ocean View.

Police responded to a 6:02 a.m. call of a fire on the 92-8800 block of Reef Circle Mauka. Upon arrival, officers found fire fighters on scene.

Further investigation led to the determination that the fire had been set intentionally.

A 36-year-old woman, who police have identified as Emily Smith, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree arson. Police say that Smith was the occupant of the house.

Estimated damage to the house is estimated to be $175,000.

Area II Criminal Investigation Section detectives will continue to investigate the incident.
