Big Island Students Receive 2015 HAB Scholarship

Academic scholarships from the Hawai’i Association of Broadcasters, Inc. were awarded to two Big Island students. The pair were among 22 recipients state-wide, who receieved a combined total of $45,000 in scholarships.

Chloe Delaney, a graduate from Konawaena High School who will attend Linfield College; along with Kamakalia Waipa, a University of Hawai’i at Hilo student, were the Big Island recipients.The scholarship money is given to assist in their pursuit of a college degree and a career in broadcasting in Hawai’i.

Students eligible for the scholarships were required to hold a minimum 2.5 grade point average and the desire to work in the broadcast industry in Hawai’i after graduation. Applicants were required to complete an application form, a letter of recommendation from a current or former teacher, and an interview with the HAB scholarship committee.
