Kona Imin Center will be closed beginning Monday, August 3 in order for facility improvements to take place.

County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation officials say the closure will last until January 2016.

The public will be unable to use the facility as improvements are made. Accessible parking, a new walkway and ramp, along with kitchen and restroom modifications are among the items to be renovated. P&R officials say the modifications will comply with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

A new sprinkler system, smoke alarm systems, sewage system enhancements, and roofing repairs are also on the renovation list.
