The deadline to enter the 28th Annual Richardson Roughwater Swim is quickly approaching.

Organizers from the County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation say that the deadline to enter the event is Friday. The registration fee is $15. Anyone who turns a registration form in after the deadline must pay a late-entry fee of $25.

Held at Richardson Ocean Park in Keaukaha on July 26, the yearly event features a challenging mile-long swim that is designed for experienced swimmers. Participants should expect ocean swells, strong currents, and breaking waves.

Entry forms are available at all county swimming pools, as well as the P&R recreation office, located inside Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Lu’au Hale in Hilo.
