Repaving work on Runway 8-26 at the Hilo International Airport is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 23 and last through July 30. Construction work will consist of repaving the middle section of the runway to ensure a safe surface for airplane arrival and departures.

The month-long work will take place on weekdays between Sunday nights and Friday mornings from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.

Due to the construction work, flight patterns will be modified to use Runway 3-21. The State Department of Transportation says that Hilo and Keaukaha residents may experience an increase in aircraft traffic in the area.

All work is weather permitting.
