The following temporary road closures have been announced by the State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation for Monday, May 18 through Friday, May 22 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Along Route 19, also known as Hawai’i Belt Road, alternating single lane closures will occur in both directions between mile markers 5 and 7.8. The partial closure will be caused by roadway pavement reconstruction from Papaikou to Paukaa.
From Pepeekeo to Hakalau, a single lane closure will occur in both directions as roadway improvements are made. The closures will take place between mile markers 10 and 15.6 along Hawai’i Belt Road.
Continuous activity on Umauma Bridge in Hakalau will cause alternating lane closures on Route 19, near mile marker 16, to remain on a seven-day-a-week, twenty-four-hour schedule as bridge rehabilitation work is underway. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 miles per hour.
