UH Hilo Presenting 2015 Taiko Festival

The Performing Art Center at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo will present the Big Island Taiko Festival 2015 on Saturday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 24 at 2 p.m.

The event is described as a blend of “vibrant drumming and physical choreography” representing the best of Big Island Taiko drumming.

Featured performers will include Taishoji Taiko, Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko, Puna Hongwanji Taiko Club, Kona Daifukuji Taiko, and Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko.

“Their energetic, dramatic style will have the audience feeling the rhythm right to their core!” exclaimed PAC Manager and Festival Producer, Lee Dombroski.

General admission tickets are $10.   Seniors, UH students (with valid ID) and children under 17 years of age are $5.  The PAC box office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Tickets may also be purchased by calling (808) 932 7490.
