Railee Keoni Santos, a Hale Nani inmate who reportedly escaped on February 16, was captured Thursday afternoon by the Hawai’i Police Department and has now been charged.

Santos, 20, was located by police and State Sheriff’s deputies in Mountain View Thursday at about 4:45 p.m. He was taken to the Hilo Police cellblock as the incident continues to be investigated by detectives with the Area I Criminal Investigations Section.

At 10:35 p.m., Santos was charged with second-degree escape, violating terms of probation, and contempt of court.

Bail for Santos was set at $10,150 and he remained at the cellblock awaiting his initial court appearance, scheduled for Friday.
