Two state tournament berths are on the line this week at the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Boys Volleyball Touurnament.

Division II action gets underway Tuesday night with a pair of quarterfinal matchups, hosted by Hawai’i Preparatory Academy and Konawaena High School. Matches move to the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium on Friday and Saturday for the semifinals and finals in both divisions.

Kamehameha-Hawai’i and Ka’u have each clinched a spot in next month’s New City Nissan/Hawai’i High School Athletic Association Boys Volleyball Championships. Automatic berths were given to the schools for winning the regular season championship outright. The Warriors were unbeaten at 13-0, winning the Division I title by two games over Hilo and Kealakehe. Ka’u, meanwhile, went 9-4 this season and was one win better than Kohala in Division II.

The tournament champion in each division will get the top berth out of the league to each state championship. The Division I state tournament opens with regional matches at Moanalua High School and a BIIF site yet to be determined. Those matches will be played May 8-9. The final four will meet on Oahu May 15-16.

The Division II state championship runs from May 14-16 on Oahu.
