Water service along Kamehameha Avenue from Kumu Street to Ponahawai Street in South Hilo will be shut off temporarily on Monday, April 27 between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The Department of Water Supply says the shut-off is necessary as waterline work for the Kamehameha Avenue Reconstruction Project continues.

Customers in the area may experience turbid or discolored water upon resumption of water service. In addition, trapped air in plumbing may be experienced. DWS officials say the issues should dissipate upon use of water.

Those in the affected area should also take precautions necessary in order to protect their property and facilities, including items that are dependent on water or water pressure.

Questions should be directed to District Supervisor Carl Nishimura at 961-9790.
