A Small Craft Advisory is posted for the Alenuihaha channel and Big Island leeward and southeast waters through 6:00 a.m. Saturday for east winds up to to 25 knots and rough seas up to 10 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast with numerous windward showers during the day. Partly cloudy skies are expected for leeward areas in the morning with building cloud cover and scattered showers in the afternoon. Trade winds are forecasted around 15 mph. High temperatures from 79° to 84°.

Tonight

Numerous showers are expected in windward and mauka areas tonight, especially after midnight. Leeward spots are expected to have mostly cloudy skies and isolated showers in the evening, then clearing should take place. Trade winds are forecasted around 15 mph. Low temperatures from 67° to 72° are expected.

 

Sunday

Mostly cloudy skies are expected with showers likely for windward and mauka locations. The Kona side will have mostly sunny skies in the morning and building afternoon cloud cover with isolated afternoon showers. Winds are forecasted out of the northeast around 15 mph. High temperatures from 79° to 84° and low temperatures from 67° to 72°.

Looking Ahead 

Moderate to locally strong trade winds are expected to gradually weaken into next week. Showers should be limited mainly to windward slopes of most islands all day, and lee slopes of the Big Island each afternoon and evening. Clouds and rain in these places are expected to peak Sunday night, before tapering off by the middle of next week.
