Three United States Post Offices on the Big Island, along with 23 additional Post Offices in the state, will offer late collection of mail on Federal Tax Day, Wednesday, April 15. These collection boxes will have a pick-up time of midnight.

The late collection from specially marked collection boxes are to accommodate last-second filers of federal tax returns.

Post Offices will all be closing at their usual times. It’s only the Tax Day collection boxes, identified as blue collection boxes, or in-wall mail slots that will be labeled with orange signs that say “Tax Mail Drop – Final Pick-Up Midnight” that will be on a late collection schedule.

Big Island Post Offices that will participate in the late pick-up include the Hilo Airport Post Office, the Kailua-Kona Post Office, and the Kamuela Post Office. All other Post Offices will be operating on their regular posted times.
