Red Cross Seeks Pahoa Area Volunteers

Volunteers in the Pahoa area are being sought after by the Hawai’i chapter of the American Red Cross.

Red Cross officials say that training for disaster services are provided free of charge.

Interested volunteers should visit the Hawai’i Red Cross website, where they will find a volunteer application. Upon completing the application form, Red Cross officials will contact and sign volunteers up for training classes.

The trainings will be held at Pahoa High and Elementary School in Pahoa on the following dates:

Disaster Services: An Overview – Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Shelter Fundamentals – Saturday, May 2 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Disaster Assessment Fundamentals – Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Disaster Action Team Orientation – Saturday, May 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
