Scheduled Road Closures: March 23-27

The State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation has announced the following temporary road closures for Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Roadway improvements will pause on Thursday, March 26 in observance of Prince Kuhio Day and resume on Friday, March 27.

Alternating single lane closures along Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Route 11, will occur in both directions between mile markers 39.5 and 45.6. The area affected will be under pavement reconstruction in the vicinity of Volcano to Kapapala Ranch.

From Pepeekeo to Hakalau, a single lane closure will occur in both directions as roadway improvements are made. The closures will take place between mile markers 10 and 15.6 along Hawai’i Belt Road, also known as Route 19.

Along Umauma Bridge in Hakalau on Route 19, mile marker 16, alternating lane closures will run on a seven days a week, twenty-four-hour schedule as bridge rehabilitation continues. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20-miles-per-hour.

According to the DOT, all lane closures are weather permitting and have the possibility of changing.
