Man Charged with Arson in Ocean View Fire

The Hawai’i Police Department has charged Martin Mario Molina with arson following a fire that occurred Friday evening in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.

At 6:11 p.m., Ka’u police arrived at a home on Pineapple Parkway to find a two-story structure in flames.

Hawai’i County Fire Department personnel were already at the scene working to extinguish the fire, determined to be arson.

Sixty-year-old Molina was arrested Friday evening on suspicion of arson, according to HPD.

Molina was processed at the Ka’u police station but was later taken to the Kona police cellblock as the investigation by detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued.

On Saturday afternoon, Molina was charged with first-degree arson and first-degree criminal property damage. His bail was set at $75,000 and he remained at the cellblock awaiting his initial court appearance, scheduled for today, March 23.
