Konawaena Alum Galdeira Earns All-Pac-12 Honors
Konawaena High School graduate and Washington State junior Lia Galdeira has earned a spot on the All-Pac-12 women’s basketball list for a second straight season.
Galdeira, a junior guard from Kamuela, scored 19.4 points per game and grabbed 6.6 rebounds per contest. Her scoring mark was good for second in the conference.
Her numbers were an improvement on last season’s All-Pac-12 campaign, where she scored 18.5 points per outing and grabbed 4.8 rebounds per night.
Galdeira was also named to the Pac-12’s All-Defensive Team for the first time in her career. In her sophomore season, she was second in the conference with 80 steals, but only received Honorable Mention recognition on the defensive end. This season, she led the Pac-12 Conference with 94 steals.
According to Washington State’s sports information department, Galdeira became just the second Cougar to make the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team since Jazmine Perkins achieved the honor in the 2008-2009 season.
The season continues for Galdeira, Konawaena alum and teammate Dawnyelle Awa, and the rest of the Cougars. Washington State (16-13 overall, 7-11 Pac-12) will face Oregon Thursday (13-16, 6-12) in the opening round of the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament, presented by New York Life.
Tip-off for the first round game is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and will be aired on Pac-12 Networks.
