Convoy Scheduled in Hilo Area Beginning Wednesday

Military convoys of Oahu-based service members are scheduled to travel between Pohakuloa Traning Area and Keaukaha Military Reservation beginning March 4.

According to Army officials, the convoys will travel from PTA to KMR on March 4, 5, and 8 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Additional convoys will travel in the opposite direction from KMR to PTA on March 5 and 7 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Roads used during the convoys will include Hilo Airport Road, Kanoelehua Avenue, West Puainako Street, Komohana Avenue, Puainako Extensiton Route 2000, and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway. The convoys will be escorted by the Hawai’i Police Department.

Motorists operating along the roadways listed should use caution and remain alert.

Efforts to coordinate the activity have been conducted between the PTA Department of Army police, local authorities, and military units.
