The Volcano Art Center is preparing for a month-long exhibit, entitled “From the Summons of Art,” that will be held at the Volcano Art Center Gallery within Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.

Artwork by Patti Pease Johnson will be the solo feature.

“To light people up with the colors of life” is Johnson’s mission. With her use of rich silk, clay, pastels, and watercolor creations, many would say that’s just what she does.

Johnson has a way of taking the viewer on a multimedia excursion as she explores the colors and shapes of Hawai’i’s splendor, pushing the limits by working with challenging combinations.

An opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the gallery on Feb. 21, and Johnson’s work will be available to view from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. daily until March 22.
