Stolen Vehicle Suspect Arrested and Charged

A man who was involved in a stolen car incident last September has been arrested and charged.

According to the Hawai’i Police Department, a car was reported stolen from the Ainaloa subdivision on Sept. 20. The vehicle was reportedly stolen sometime between Sept. 15 and Sept. 20.

On Nov. 30, following a police investigation, the identity of the suspect, Blaine L. K. Faris III, was determined and the vehicle was recovered.

Police arrested 33-year-old Faris on Monday, Feb. 9 in Hilo. He was taken to the Hilo police cellblock as detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued to investigate.

On Wednesday, Faris was charged with second-degree theft. His bail was set at $2,000.

Faris remains at the cellblock awaiting his initial court appearance, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12.
