Longs Drugs’ Pahoa location will close Saturday, according to the store’s manager and a spokesman for CVS/Caremark, the parent company of Longs.

Signs were posted at the front of the store Thursday stating that the store would close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 20. A day earlier, yellow signs were posted at cash registers and at the front of the store saying that all sales were final.

The CVS spokesperson said that a temporary space is being planned to serve the store’s pharmacy customers. The location of that space will be announced at a later date. The spokesperson could not say whether the temporary space would resemble a full-scale Longs store or a smaller Longs Pharmacy outlet.

The spokesperson said that pharmacy records from the Pahoa location will be transferred to the downtown Hilo location, located on Kilauea Avenue.
