Downtown Hilo Night Road Work Will Cause Closure

The Department of Public works has announced the closure of Kamehameha Avenue from Ponahawai Street to the Pauahi Street intersection, as well as Kumu Street, on Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. to Nov. 13 at 5 a.m.

Nighttime road work will close these areas for both motorists and pedestrians.

Access to Mo’oheau Bus Terminal and Downtown Hilo will be through Ponahawai Street.

Off-duty officers will redirect traffic. In addition, message boards will be posted altering motorists of the closure.

Bayfront Highway and the Pauahi Street intersection will both remain open.
