The Hawai`i Police Department reports that Route 11 between the 58 and 59 mile markers in the Ka`u district is now open for traffic.

The Hawai`i Police Department reports that Route 11 between the 58 and 59 mile markers in the Ka`u district is closed due to flooding. Heavy rains continue in the area.

Just after 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the Ka`u district, specifically in Wood Valley, where thunderstorms were reported.. Radar was showing approximately two inches of rain falling along the Ka`u slopes.

The flood advisory was extended around 4:45 p.m., as radar continued to show at least two inches of rain falling in Ka`u. Wood Valley and Pahala was receiving the heaviest of the rain cells during the late afternoon and early evening.

As of 9:12 p.m., HPD reports that heavy rain continues to fall in the district.
