A 35-year-old South Kohala man was charged with attempted murder this past weekend following a stabbing in Waikoloa two days earlier.

Police said Joel H. White allegedly went to the 20-year-old victim’s home on Malie Street early Thursday night and got into an altercation.

White allegedly stabbed the younger man who then ran to a neighbor’s house.

Police arriving at 6:48 p.m. found the victim with multiple wounds to his torso and neck. He was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea.

White, also a Waikoloa resident, was arrested at the scene.

He was charged Saturday morning with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree burglary.

His bail was set at $275,000.
